Art Basel 2017 - The place to be

Art Basel 2017 - World's Leading Contemporary Art Fair

How sad I am not to attend the greatest art event in the world - famous Art Basel this year! It is actually  the first year that I couldn't make it to go to Basel and enjoy at the prestigious art show. It is the most important Contemporary Art fair in the world and as you might already noticed, I love contemporary art. I decided to write a few words about Art Basel 2017, as I feel that this is my responsibility to share it with you. After all, I am as Swiss girl, and my heart belongs to art, especially when presented in Switzerland!

What should you see in Basel these days

Alright. You are there, at Art Basel. Now, as it usually happens where there is just too much to be seen, you would obviously need a plan in order to organize yourself and see as much as possible.

Art Basel is grouped into few different segments, but definitely leading segment are Galleries. Take your time to explore them. Here is what I would visit:

Gagosian Gallery

This is one of my favorite galleries and there is one in London as well. I never miss the chance to visit it, so I were you, I would go straight there. Take a look at masterpiece called Brushstroke Head I, Roy Lichtenstein, sculpture, 1987.

Galerie Gmurzynska

I was just too excited when I heard that this gallery will be offering for the first time a masterpiece - Fireplace mural (untitled), oil on canvas, 1938 by Fernand Léger. You would get a clue of how important this brilliant painting is when I tell you that the painting was conceived for and in the living room of Nelson A. Rockefeller’s apartment in New York. I would use a chance to see this work before it ends up in someone's private collection.

Van de Weghe Gallery

Stunning installations and lights playing around it. Although it is hung on a wall like a painting , Untitled (Stack) by Donald Judd projects nearly three feet from the wall and climbs like rungs on a ladder from floor to ceiling. Real example of contemporary art.

Helly Nahmad Gallery

Here we have some vertiginous numbers! What if I tell you that this Gallery offers 'Le soleil rouge ronge l'araignée, 1948, Joan Miró' for 20 million USD? Would you visit this Gallery on Art Basel and take a look at this painting? I would, definitely.

Mnuchin Gallery New York

Here you'll find the Andy Warhol painting, Gun 1981-82! If you read my blog, you probably saw an article which I wrote for the collaboration with Andy Warhol museum. Being a great admirer of his work, I wouldn't miss the chance to see it at Art Basel 2017.

Art Basel 2017- Artist to be seen

I would strongly recommend for all of you going to Art Basel 2017 to see Jean-Michel Basquiat paintings. His paintings offered at Art Basel are worth a combined $89 million. Quite a number, don't you think so? As per  Sotheby’s record-breaking $110.5 million sale of the artist’s Untitled (1982) last month, now is the very good time to own his work. Or just admire to it and get some inspiration.

There it goes my dears, I gave you some tips on what I would visit on Art Basel 2017.  Just have in mind that among all those magnificent art works, you would not make a mistake whatever you see! They say that art is in the eye of the beholder, so keep your eyes wide open and observe!
