Recently I spent time in Milan for fashion week. In Germany, they celebrate so called ‘Street Carneval’ during this period of the year, and Milan compares a little bit to it.
When you look at the fashionistas with their carefully curated outfits, except that in Milan, everybody takes it very seriously. Not to forget: this is a multi-billion Euro business. Even if they all try to hide that it’s all about the money money money! But irony aside, the amount and variety of fashion displayed in the showrooms, the shows and on the street, it's simply fascinating and makes you feel passionate about the creative output and cool vibe that’s dominating the not so pretty Milan during these days. The shows are not only a showcase of the upcoming collections but also a see and to be seen of fashion professionals and fashionistas and it’s still true that everybody’s running out the moment the show has ended, sometimes it’s a reflex when there’s no other show, or is everybody that hungry?
There are always buffets waiting for you when you’re entering a showroom but you won’t see anybody eating. You never see someone eating other than backstage where the models are: they eat but not the spectators. Then there’s the parties and receptions that are taking place everywhere and since fashion people are a small community, when you did travel the world with the ‘circus’. For a while, you know who ‘s who fairly soon. I met some very nice and competent individuals from the various brands that I visited and also the representatives of the all-present big agencies, I had no time left for parties but worked my schedule and was posting and streaming mostly live for my followers.
At least on the weekend I found time to visit my all-time favourite ristorante Bice hidden in a side street off the hustling Via Montenapoleone and could indulge in some of the best pasta and service in town. Armani hotel is not only perfectly located, it also features some of the biggest rooms in Milan. Georgio’s minimalist style still is well outbalanced by the warm colours and soft materials. Love the scent of the bath products. Well done!
