Living in London means you live at a pace unlike anywhere else in the world. It’s proven by the fact that I’m moving home… again. I have barely finished unpacking the boxes from the last move and I’m already packing them back up to relocate to a brand new flat – the third time I have changed homes in just one year.
When I first arrived in London from Switzerland, I rented with AirBnb and found myself sharing a home with an Italian man who quickly became my best friend – and not only because he would cook the most delicious meals for us! A short while later the flat next door became available, allowing me to have my own space as well as continue being close to my new friend and personal chef. However, the flat was still quite isolated and small, as is often the case in the city. As I began to grow in my brand new London life (and I’m not just talking about my weight from all the Italian meals) I needed a place with enough room to match it.
After a vast number of viewings it still didn't "click" for me until four weeks ago. Just after I missed a really nice flat (lesson learned: London real estate market is very quick!) I found my dream home in my dream location for a dream price! Honestly, I thought it was a joke. Somehow it seemed too good to be true. Even before I set foot in this apartment, it gave a me sleepless night. I was so excited! A few nights later, I finally got the contract.
Relocating for the third time since I moved to London is unusual for me. This certainly was never commonplace in Zurich or Geneva. However, I think I have finally found somewhere I can truly call home. I see myself with a home office there and my team working around me - although I haven’t got a clue what I will do for meals anymore!
Decorating the apartment to make it look exactly how I imagine it will take some time – especially because I have a very particular idea about what I want. I hope to share some photographs in the future as my new home begins to take shape and I begin the next step of my London adventure.
