NEW DISCOVERIES IN GENEVA

Don’t you like to have some favourite spots in a city that you visit on a regular basis? It’s like coming home, staff recognizes you like an old friend and you know your favourite dishes and drinks by heart. Recently, two places won my heart in Geneva, it’s the Four Seasons' Bar des Bergues and the Bains de Paquis, a public beach in the shape of a peninsula on one of the best locations of the town. Both places couldn’t be more different: there’s the old school Bar with it’s posh international clientele and perfect service and possibly the best risotto dishes in Switzerland. Still, it feels like a big living room and you’re immediately feeling cosy and at home. The other is an architectural treasure dating from the 1930s that has been saved from demolition end of the 80’s by a majority vote of the city’s citizens and is run and taken care of an Association which has a quite alternative approach to life: slow down, relax, take it easy. However, it’s the most egalitarian place in town where rich and poor mingle together 365 days a year (and yes, their fondue is best in town). It’s an experience and I don’t miss both places when I am in town. I absolutely like those spots which you can’t copy & paste and which have a soul. There’s some more amazing findings but you will have to wait until next time…
